The Beginning.......sort of

Ok, so I want to start by saying that I have never really been into blogging.  I have started this blog so that I can track my progress, and you can follow me on my journey Live Rich.  Now....what do I mean Live Rich?  To a lot of people the word rich represents money.  To me, it encompasses so much more than that.  You can be financially rich, spiritually rich, rich in health, rich in happiness; the list can go on forever.  When I say Live Rich, I mean to surround yourself with an abundance of anything that will improve the quality of your life.  My journey on this path has only just begun.   I have set some goals for myself, and implemented a plan to attain them.

My story started when I was a junior in high school.  Growing up I was always very active, super skinny (too skinny to be honest), and as far as I knew perfectly healthy (besides my asthma and a few injuries I sustained when I was a kid).  In living my active lifestyle, I didn't always use the best judgement.  Needless to say, I ended up getting myself run over with my own truck.  What did I get out of this accident?  A broken back (didn't know it at the time), and some torn ligaments in my knee.  Since that day, it has been downhill.  I have suffered through several more substantial injuries which ended my soccer career, stopped my quest to join the Marines, and have made me feel like an 83 year old woman.  Well, one thing I learned from all of this is that when you hurt yourself enough times, your level of activity changes.  Guess what happens when you stop getting exercise, sit at a desk all day, and still eat like you work out for 5 hours a day!  You get fat!  Not only do you get fat, but then you realize just how unhealthy you were living.  Just because you are thin, in shape, and can run for hours on end does not make you healthy.  When I was in my best shape, I was running my warm-up laps at soccer practice with either a cheeseburger or a box of chicken strips from Whataburger (mostly the burgers because it was easier)!  I would eat for 4 hours at a buffet, and only leave because my sister would start complaining that we had arrived at lunch time, and it was already time for dinner (that and the restaurant would literally remove food from the buffet).  I would eat a 1/2 gallon of Blue Bell Cookies N Cream ice cream in two days!  The way I ate, if you didn't know me, one could assume that I was 500 lbs!

Over the next few years, I rode what I call the "weight-loss rollercoaster".  I tried EVERYTHING!  I tried Weight Watchers.  I tried diet pills.  I tried juice fasting, water fasting, and any other kind of fasting you can think of.  I tried running and working out for SIX HOURS A DAY!  I tried eating nothing but chicken, rice, and spinach, and drinking only water for three months!  Did I lose weight?  Of course!  But, it always came back.  Not only did it come back, but it brought friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins, too!  I am determined, now, to not only lose the weight and keep it off for good, but to become healthier, happier, and financially free.  I hope you will stick around to join me in my journey to LIVE RICH!!!
